How About Anna Kendrick as Robin?

Joe and Anna

The next standalone Batman film for the DC Comics Entertainment Universe – DCEU for short – will be entitled “The Batman” and is projected for a wide release date some time between 2018 and 2020.

“The movie, I think, is going to be called The Batman,” Ben Affleck said. “I think that’s what we’re going with now. I might change it. That’s about it, that’s all I got. We’re working on the script, it’s going well, I’m really excited about it, and I assure you, if anything develops, you’ll hear about it.” This was actually revealed via an Associated Press interview with the actor”  Ben Affleck was revealed as director for the movie at a Warner Bros. panel during this year’s San Diego ComicCon.

Further rumors came quickly thereafter when Entertainment Weekly confirmed the rampant rumors of Joe Manganiello would be portraying Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke.  The orange and black body armor clad protagonist will go up against The Batman although further plot details are still classified.

So what of the rest of the cast? Since this standalone Batman movie takes place squarely in the midst of the DC Entertainment Universe we know from the Batman V Superman cast who some of the key players will be. Ben Affleck, obviously, will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne / Batman.  Jeremy Irons will again play the tactically inclined Alfred Pennyworth. J.K. Simmons will play the part of Commissioner Gordon. Jared Leto is rumored to reprise his Suicide Squad outing as The Joker.

But beyond that many of the secondary and supporting characters are waiting to be cast.  One of which is Batman’s decades-long sidekick Robin. But which Robin? And how about that scene in Batman V Superman in the Batcave where Robin’s suit is encased in glass and The Joker’s iconic “hahahaha” is emblazoned across the chest plate?

joeandannaWell one actor certainly wants to play the character.  Who is that actor? It is Anna Kendrick.

She is serious about the part too.

Ben Affleck was, allegedly, not entirely impressed with her pitch but someone else was and is apparently giving her support in her pitch to play Robin.  Joe Manganiello, who’s first outing as Deathstroke will be in next year’s Justice League, posed with Kendrick in solidarity for her Instagram photograph, seen on the left.

Boss Logic, a Twitter account, seemed to like the idea and decided to alter the image to see what the two might look like in their costumes and this is what they came up with.  Keep in mind that this is a fun image and not an official rendering.  So what do you think?

Sound off in the comment below and let us know if you think Kendrick would be a good Robin or who would you like to see play the character.
