And My Pick of the Week: BATMAN!!!

This week had some great Batman goodies. James Tynion IV’s Batman run is off to a great start. Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity is brilliant, disturbing, and really different… in a good way. DC Universe’s Harley Quinn was super fun and ridiculous. Birds of Prey hit theaters and, I’ll be completely honest… I thought Ewan McGregor’s performance as Black Mask was brilliant and Margot Robbie was fun, but the movie itself should have just been called Harley Quinn and not included the weak supporting cast. I thought Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, Mr. Zasz, and Renee Montoya were completely miscast and actually, sadly, really bad. But the movie was still fun because it was ridiculous and McGregor was brilliant. But it is what it is. Oh. And someone needs to tell the current team on Justice League that Alfred’s dead. Not sure if that was bad editing or a blatant misdirect or what. And in the comics world, there’s that news of the next big Crisis on its way. But what are your thoughts on this week’s Batman-related releases? Hit me up on Twitter at jeffhillwriter and let’s get the debate going. See you next Baturday!
