D.C. comics has confirmed that more books are ending in October 2020. The previously on-going, titles added to the chopping block are Batgirl, Justice League Odyssey as well as Batman and the Outsiders. This news follows the news that Harley Quinn will also be ending in August with issue 75 and both Shazam and Books of Magic are ending in September along with Josh Williamson closing out a 101-issue run on The Flash the same month. Batgirl ends on the milestone issue 50 and Justice League Odyssey ends on a milestone issue as well with its’ 25th issue. Batman and the Outsider’s last issue is a rather unceremonious 17.
All of these cancellations will be coming in the wake of The Joker War, as Joker and his new second-in-command Punchline cut a bloody swath of violence through Gotham City and Batman’s life.
On Twitter, Batgirl writer Cecil Castellucci commented on the news “Hi! I notice it’s been announced that 50 is the series finale of Batgirl. Wanted to say that end has been in the works for a long time! It was planned because there were other things upcoming that didn’t happen. Fiercely proud of bringing Babs to here! Meanwhile 47 out next wk!
Hopefully we learn more about the fate of these characters and creative teams at DC’s virtual August event called DC Fandome!
