Homeland Playing Cards Designed In Celebration Of New Season

Homeland

Showtime’s hit TV drama Homeland has become one of the best loved shows currently showing on television, having been syndicated all over the world.

Homeland is an American political thriller developed by Howard Gordon with Alex Gansa that is based on the Israeli series called Hatufim (translated to English as “Prisoners of War”)

The series has received widespread critical acclaim, having won several awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2012, as well as Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama in both 2011 and 2012.

In addition, both lead actors (Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison and Damian Lewis as Nicholas Brody) won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

In celebration of the new season of Homeland, as well as other hit American TV shows, Ladbrokes Poker have produced some illustrated playing cards, depicting the show’s characters as members of the Royal cards…

Homelandv  King – Nicholas Brody

Brody, played by Damian Lewis, is lead character with ambiguous loyalties and is occasionally an actual terrorist threat.

The Brody character is a complex character made all the more interesting by his conflicting loyalties. The lead actor, but in many ways an anti-hero, makes for a very Shakespearean king.

Homelandv  Queen – Carrie Mathison

Caroline Anne Mathison was recruited to the CIA by Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), having previously studied Arabic at Princeton University. Initially, a seemingly one-dimensional character, she is later diagnosed with bipolar disorder. As well as being the lead actress, Carrie becomes Brody’s lover and the mother of his child, so rightly takes her place as Queen.

Homelandv  Jack – Saul Berenson

Berenson majored in political science while a student, and later became a CIA Agent, where he has worked for 35 years. He recruited and trained Carrie, he has a close working relationship with her, despite no longer being her direct boss. As a secondary, but nonetheless important character, Saul makes a great Jack.

 v  Jack –  Peter Quinn

An elite black-ops agent for the CIA and leader of a surveillance team consisting of Saul Berenson, Carrie Mathison, and lesser-known characters Virgil and Max to spy on Nicholas Brody after it was discovered that he had made an attempt to assassinate the Vice President. Hard-nosed, hard-working, and capable of being brutal – as when he impaled Brody’s hand with a knife during an interrogation – Quinn also deserves his place as Jack.

Homelandv  Ace – CIA

The whole premise of Homeland is the Central Intelligence Agency’s fight against terrorism, shows it only appropriate that Ladbrokes have made the CIA the Ace of the pack.
