Grimm Fairy Tales presents The Jungle Book: Fall of the Wild #5 (of 5)

Mowgli returns to Kipling for what may be the final battle between the tribes. The island is shaking itself apart, thanks mostly to the volcano currently erupting. Mowgli must get the tribes to understand the danger they now face. Not each other, not the destruction of their home, but the approach of man in the form of the sailors that she escaped from last issue. They are on a course for Kipling that could mean the real end of everything.

Despite her best warnings, Mowgli may be too late. Man comes with fire and destruction and nature cannot stand against him. The tribes must unite and use the resources of their island home to stop man from destroying what they have all worked so hard to create. Will Mowgli be the savior of the island or its downfall?

I have really enjoyed this series. Mark L. Millar has taken this story exactly where it needed to go and still left us with the opportunity for more. This series was my first experience with the characters of the Jungle Book in the Zenescope Universe, and I really enjoyed this. I would recommend picking this up as a great adventure and a well written story within the Zenescope Universe even if it does not currently directly connect with stories going on.

My Rating: 4/5

Grimm Fairy Tales presents Oz: Reign of the Witch Queen #1 (of 6)

With the end of the Warlord of Oz series, things were in quite a mess in the wonderful land of Oz. The Warlord had resurrected Zamora, the Wicked Witch. We found out that Dorothy was her daughter after she was betrayed by Smynth who led her to Thora and Nicholas so they could use Dorothy’s blood to bring Zamora back in the hopes that she would make Nicholas human again. That did not go quite as planned. Zamora and the Warlord escaped after killing Thora. And now, we are unsure of what will happen to Dorothy… Will she be able to control her power or give into the dark magic against the life-giving power of the Green? And don’t forget that Glinda, the Good Witch, is dead after giving her life to bring Dorothy back to Oz.

Now, the group heads back to the Emerald City to bury their dead, mourn the losses, and regroup with the help of the king. Dorothy feels better than ever, but she knows there is more to it than just adrenaline after a battle. Smynth and Nicholas have agreed to submit themselves to the mercy of the king for judgement of their deeds.

Meanwhile, Zamora and the Warlord appear outside of Abraxas Academy. Their plans are to sneak in and use the many allies that the Dark One has placed there over the years. She will claim Abraxas as her own.

In the Emerald City, the king knows that Dorothy is the savior that the people want and need, but what will be the cost of this revelation? This is a great start to this next chapter in tales of Oz. Jeff Massey and Kristin Massey did a really awesome job with the story and Antonio Bifulco keeps up the Zenescope standard of great art. Another superb addition to the Zenescope line.

My Rating: 4.5/5
