Picks of the Week for 11/06/13

Picks of the Week everybody:

00

East of West 7 – Hickman’s been killing it on his apocalyptic space-western month in and month out. A complex storyline with interesting characters, a huge backstory, and some excellent building of the mythology and world in the book makes East of West an impressive standout among all of the big books from DC and Marvel. Nick Dragotta’s art brings the characters and environments to life, and also provides for some disgusting imagery. -Julien Loeper

Forever Evil 3

Forever Evil 3 – The superstar team of Geoff Johns and David Finch continue to impress in the third issue of the first line-wide DC Comics event since the reboot in 2011. A series that focuses on the true strength of the DC Universe, their wonderfully complex array of villains, really starts to pick up steam in this issue. We see the formation of the brand new Legion of Doom (even though they’re not actually called that… yet.) and an uneasy alliance to save the world from the Crime Syndicate and the Secret Society. So, as predicted, we finally get to see Lex Luthor, Black Adam, Captain Cold, Bizarro, and Black Manta joining forces not to destroy the Justice League, but to do their job for them. What’s not to love about this concept? – Jeff Hill

Cataclysm: The Ultimates' Last Stand #1 Cover

Cataclysm: The Ultimates’ Last Stand 1 – This book was everything I wanted this week after the long wait for the end of Battle of the Atom that went nowhere. There was Galactus and destruction and Galactus and destruction. This is going to be the way the Ultimate Universe goes out… with a burp as Galactus eats them. I think we should start a pool and bet on who dies first. – Aaron Clutter
