If you are not caught up on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the following will contain spoilers. Readers beware.
There are few things that will get fans more excited about an upcoming film, television show or actor appearance as a well done trailer. When it comes to giving fans just enough in a trailer to drive them wild, Marvel has mastered the art. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is prepared to launch a second season and now we have some footage to drool over.
There have been plenty of rumors to keep fans engaged and wondering what the new season brings. New characters, new twists and dangling story lines are all in abundance. While the trailer doesn’t answer any of our questions, it certainly reminds us of a few of them and teases us with what the future may hold.
Clark Gregg’s work as Agent Phil Coulson has been outstanding since his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). His voice over work in the trailer is chilling. He paints a verbal picture of the situation S.H.I.E.L.D. finds itself in. The comment that they must become “ghosts” adds a degree of excitement to the upcoming season.
Brett Dalton has added a beard as he appears to be incarcerated as Agent Grant Ward. Meanwhile, Chloe Bennet seems to still be enamored with her former mentor, even after his Hydra roots were revealed.
The trailer also reminds fans that Fitz, played by Iain De Caestecker, was left in extreme danger after his heroic near-death experience. Indeed, the trailer seems to push the excitement level even higher.
The series will return to ABC on September 23 at 9 pm eastern. With new cast members, first season stories that are ripe to bring loose ends to tie up and the strong cast in tact, S.H.I.E.L.D. finds itself high on most fans’ watch lists.
