The latest in a slew of announcements from the House of Ideas is that Matt Rosenberg and Greg Land will be teaming to take over the Astonishing X-Men Title with July 4th’s issue 13!
The latest volume of Astonishing X-Men began with Charles Soule (Writer) and Jim Cheung (art) back in September of 2017. With Charles at the helm, art duties cycled between Cheung, Mike Deodato, Jr., Ed McGuinness, Carlos Pacheco, Ramon Rosanas, Mike Del Mundo, Phil Noto, Paulo Siqueira, Matteo Buffagni. Starting with issue thirteen, that rotation will stop on Greg Land.
“We’re taking a slightly different approach to our X-Men on this team,” Rosenberg commented in the press release. The team will consist of Havok and Beast as “Co-Leaders”, Colossus as the team heavy, Warpath with the CQB and weapons skills and an as-yet-unnamed additional character.

ASTONISHING X-MEN came back in a huge way last year with @CharlesSoule at the helm and an ever changing roster of superstar artists. The book is staggeringly good and the final 2 issues are the best and craziest yet.
But Charles finishes his story in issue #12. In issue #13 myself and Greg Land come in to tell an all new story with an all new team. It’s got a lot of nods to some of my favorite stories in X-Men history but also is going to be pushing things forward and challenging the future.
For those wondering our team is HAVOK and BEAST as co-leaders. DAZZLER brings the firepower. COLOSSUS brings the muscle. WARPATH brings the knives. And *maybe* there is another team member we aren’t talking about yet? And no, I won’t spoil it.
I’m going to do a little thank you speech like I won the Oscars, which is corny because getting to write the X-MEN is waaaay better than winning an Oscar. But here goes-
I learned to read with X-Men comics. I survived tough times growing up through X-Men comics. X-Men comics helped shape my worldview and my personal politics. X-Men comics made me want to be a better person. And X-Men comics made me want to write comics.
Saying “getting to write X-Men is a lifelong dream come true” sounds cliche but I don’t know how else to describe it. And the fact of the matter is I wouldn’t be here without a few people I want to thank.
