Not even the two most recognizable heroes in all of films and comic books can stop the sheer power of the internet. No sooner had fans started printing their passes to the Monday IMAX event that was to be the first public showing of the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice teaser trailer than it happened that the this trailer managed to crawl out on its own: a camcorder-quality version of the trailer leaked sometime yesterday. Even as most of geek fandom was trying to recover (and wipe their tears of joy and nostalgia) after having seen the latest Force Awakens trailer, the leaked version of the BvS trailer spread like wild fire. There was nothing that Warner Brothers could do to stop it.
A similar thing happened when Marvel studios was ready to premier it’s first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron during a broadcast of an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when the trailer leaked prematurely, Marvel did the smartest thing they could do: they just released a high quality version of trailer early as if to cut their loses and not have a low-quality version of the trailer tarnish the film. It was H.Y.D.R.A’s fault, they said. Behind Warners’ great shield, the suits have decided to follow suit, and the studio has released the trailer for everyone to see.
Apparently the IMAX event will still take place. Check out the teaser below:
