Baturday: 2/18/17 in Batman

Baturday

It’s Baturday, everyone!  Time to celebrate with some new Batman news and reviews!  Ben Affleck officially stepped down as director for the standalone Batman film, Bane is getting his very own comic book miniseries (from his creators), and they want Mel Gibson to direct the Suicide Squad sequel.  It’s a great time to be a fan of the Dark Knight, with a brand new Batman title, Super Sons, and a crossover storyline with the Green Lanterns beginning and wrapping up this week respectively.  Here are my thoughts on this week’s releases:

Mother Panic #3 – My Rating: 3.5/5

Raven #6 (of 6) – My Rating: 4/5

Batman #17 – My Rating: 5/5

Batwoman: Rebirth #1 (One-Shot) – My Rating: 4/5

Harley Quinn #14 – My Rating: 4/5

Nightwing #15 – My Rating: 4/5

Super Sons #1 – My Rating: 5/5

Trinity #6 – My Rating: 4/5

Green Arrow #17 – My Rating: 4/5

Green Lanterns #17 – My Rating: 4/5

Justice League #15 – My Rating: 4/5

Batman / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #4 (of 6) – My Rating: 4.5/5

Arrow 5.13: “Spectre of the Gun” – My Rating: 4/5

Powerless 1.3: “Sinking Day”- My Rating: 4/5

…and my pick of the week is…  SUPER SONS!!!

To be fair, Super Sons is not the traditional “Batman” style tale.  It’s fun, light, and altogether hilarious.  Tomasi has really crafted Jon and Damian as the next generation of Clark and Bruce so well in the pages of his plethora of books that he’s been in charge of over the years, so it should come as no surprise that the premiere issue of their own ongoing series would be so well crafted.  There are some other great books on the stands right now, and it’s good to see the Batman family line stepping it up in recent weeks to compete with the almost perfect Superman line.  What are your thoughts?  Let us know in the comments section or on social media and we’ll chat.  See you next weekend for another Batman-filled installment of Baturday!
