Baturday: 5/28/16 in Batman

Baturday

Happy Baturday, Batman fans!  This is going to be my last column for a while (maybe a month, maybe two) while I’m in New York City pitching my novel.  But what a great way to end the school year (as a teacher and a comic reader) this week has been!  Rebirth is here.  Gotham and Arrow reached their respective season finales.  And there was a whole slew of Batman-related comics and news to keep even the busiest of Batman fans happy!  Here are my thoughts on this week’s releases:

Batgirl #52 – My Rating: 4/5

Batman ’66 Meets the Man from U. N. C. L. E. #6 (of 6) – My Rating: 4/5

DC Comics Bombshells #13 – My Rating: 4/5

DC Universe: Rebirth #1 (One-Shot) – My Rating: 5/5

Deathstroke #18 – My Rating: 4/5

The Flash #52 – My Rating: 4/5

Grayson #20 – My Rating: 3.5/5

Justice League #50 – My Rating: 5/5

Justice League 3001 #12 – My Rating: 3/5

Secret Six #14 – My Rating: 3/5

Suicide Squad Most Wanted: Deadshot/Katana #5 (of 6) – My Rating: 4/5

Superman #52 – My Rating: 5/5

Teen Titans #20 – My Rating: 4/5

We are Robin #12 – My Rating: 3/5

Arrow 4.23: “Schism” – My Rating: 4.5/5

Gotham 2.22: “Transference” – My Rating: 4.5/5

…and my pick of the week is…  DC UNIVERSE: REBIRTH!!!

That’s that, folks.  I loved Rebirth.  So very much.  This is the type of comic that has me read, re-read, and re-read again.  This is the type of comic that gets me so excited that I actually find myself making audible gasps and getting real-life goosebumps.  This is the type of comic that changes things and reaffirms my love for the medium, the characters, and the company that I’ve loved since I first started reading over 20 years ago.  Justice League’s finale was amazing.  Superman’s New 52 finale was great.  And oh man is it ever a great time to be a Batman fan.  Can’t wait to see what’s next!  (Also:  Watchmen?  Entering the DC Universe?  HELL.  YES.)
