And my pick of the week is…  CHECKMATE!!!

So there you have it, folks.  Tons of great things happening in the Bat books while we anxiously await more news and more releases on the big and small screens for our favorite Caped Crusader.  Checkmate is not only the best Bat book of the week, it’s probably the best thing DC’s released so far this month, spotlighting the type of large ensemble spy cast where Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev both absolutely thrive.  Garth Ennis tackling a Black Label Batman caper is exactly what I knew it would be, a lot of fun.  Infinite Frontier gives us hope for a better Flashpoint Batman story than the one Tom King forced down our throats at the tail end of his atrocious run.  And the Justice League book (with its Justice League Dark backup story) make for a fun read for lovers of the team books, something at which Bendis also excels.  And just because I didn’t list them as “BUY” books, it certainly doesn’t mean that I didn’t grab a copy and read them for you… even though this week there weren’t really any that aren’t worth your hard-earned cash.  Let us know what you think on social media and let’s keep the conversation going.  See you next Baturday!
