Baturday: First Week of June 2020

Baturday

Hello there, Batman fans! And welcome back to Comic Booked’s longest-running column, Baturday! Make sure you check out the last edition before you read all about the first week of June. Here’s what came out this week:

  • Action Comics #1022
  • Batman/Superman #9
  • Birds of Prey #1 (One-Shot)
  • Catwoman #22
  • Catwoman: 80th Anniversary Spec. #1
  • Detective Comics #1022
  • Justice League Dark #22
  • Shazam! #12
  • CW — DC’s Legends of Tomorrow
  • DC Universe / CW — Stargirl
  • DC Universe — DC Daily
  • DC Universe — Harley Quinn

And my pick of the week is:

  • DETECTIVE COMICS!

So there you have it. The anniversary special showed us just how important Catwoman’s legacy is to the DC Universe with great stories by Paul Dini, Tom King, and Chuck Dixon (among others). The long-awaited Black Label Azzarello/Lupacchino Birds of Prey story finally hit the stands (and was well-worth the wait). And Peter J. Tomasi proves that he really is the best Batman (if not all of DC) writer of the last 20 years with his absolutely stunning Two-Face story in Detective Comics, finally bringing a close to his cliffhanger ending from the New 52 era… which might actually be the best Batman story of all time, in my opinion. Then there’s a little something that made the news yesterday regarding DC and Diamond ending their 25-year relationship. All in all, it was a great comeback week for DC and the Batman family. Let us know what you missed, what you’re looking forward to, and how you’re doing. We’d love to hear from you on social media. See you next Baturday!
