Baturday: Fourth Week of August 2019

Baturday

Welcome back to everyone’s favorite Batman-themed column here on Comic Booked, Baturday! The fourth week of August was full of great stuff. Here’s my take on this week’s releases:

  • Action Comics #1,014 – 5/5
  • Batgirl #38 – 3.5/5
  • Batman Beyond #35 – 4/5
  • Batman: Curse of the White Knight #2 – 5/5
  • Batman/Superman #1 – 5/5
  • Detective Comics #1,010 – 5/5
  • Justice League #30 – 5/5
  • Justice League Dark #14 – 4/5
  • Red Hood: Outlaw #37 – 5/5
  • The Terrifics #19 – 4/5
  • DC Universe: DC Daily – 3/5
  • DC Universe: Young Justice: Outsiders – 5/5

My pick of the week: DETECTIVE COMICS!!!

So there you have it. Lots of great stuff going on in Batman-related books and other media. Tons of great news, previews, and upcoming releases as well. But you all know that. I’m super pumped for Titans after seeing that second season trailer. I’m super… confused after seeing that trailer for Joker. But let’s talk about the final episodes of Young Justice: Outsiders and how awesome they wrapped up (and set up) events from the season and the next. The JSA returning in Justice League, the Legion returning in Superman, and Batman/Superman a title again makes me think that the final remnants of the New 52 are gone forever from DC lore. But I would be remiss if I didn’t sing Peter J. Tomasi’s praises for the umpteenth time. The man knows how to write, and his run on Detective Comics is the best the already-great Bat line of books has to offer. But what are your thoughts? What are you most looking forward to in the upcoming weeks and months? Let us know on social media and we’ll continue the conversation there. See you back here next week for another installment of Baturday!
