Baturday: Fourth Week of September 2020 for Batman

Hello there, Batman fans!  And welcome back to Comic Booked’s longest-running column, Baturday!  Make sure you check out the last edition before you read all about the fourth week of September.  Here’s what came out this week:

  • Batgirl #49
  • Batman Beyond #47
  • Batman/Superman #12
  • Dark Nights: Death Metal: Speed Metal #1 (One-Shot)
  • Justice League Dark #26
  • Suicide Squad #9

And my pick of the week is:

  • SPEED METAL!!!

So there you have it.  The Joker War claims another casualty in the pages of Batgirl, which has me all in my feelings because it was done really well but I love James Gordon Jr. as a villain.  Tom Taylor does the unthinkable in the beginning of his final Suicide Squad story and reveals the true villain of Black Mask as he seemingly kills both Deadshot and Blue Beetle on the final page.  But the prize for pick of the week goes to the Speed Metal one-shot, serving as both a great coda to Josh Williamson’s Flash run and a bridge between the horrifically sad (and absent) Wally West stories and the great ones to come.  I think it’s pretty safe to say that it was yet another solid release week for the Bat family of books.  Let us know what you missed, what you’re looking forward to, and how you’re doing.  We’d love to hear from you on social media.  See you next Baturday!
