Baturday: Harley Quinn is DC’s Deadpool

Baturday

Happy Baturday, folks!  Before we jump into the quick reviews and buy it/skip it section of everyone’s favorite Dark Knight-themed column here on Comic Booked, I want to clear the air a bit.  Harley Quinn has always been a somewhat perplexing character to me in the world of Batman.  And that is a huge understatement.  Is she awesome?  Does she bring new fans to the medium?  Or is she just another way for people to get angry about stuff and go rage on strangers on the interwebz?  Either way, I just sort of ignored it and enjoyed her whenever she would occasionally show up in a comic.  But now it’s like she’s everywhere.  And I mean EVERYWHERE.  She’s even got her own variant covers for titles she’s not featured in this month.

And then it hit me: She’s the DC equivalent to Marvel’s Deadpool, another character who, when done right is awesome and when done wrong (which is a majority of the time) is annoying, yet still somehow awesome.  So there you have it.

Neat.  One man’s opinion on something that has been bugging him for a while but probably seems trivial to everyone else.  But tough.  It’s my column.  Shut up.  Here are my thoughts on this week’s Batman releases:

Gotham 1.15: “The Scarecrow” – My Rating: 5/5

Harley Quinn: Valentine’s Day Special #1 – My Rating: 4/5

The New 52: Futures End #41 – My Rating: 5/5

Earth 2: World’s End #19 – My Rating: 4/5

Worlds’ Finest #31 – My Rating: 4/5

Justice League 3000 #14 – My Rating: 3/5

Batman Eternal #45 – My Rating: 4.5/5

Secret Six #2 – My Rating: 3/5

Harley Quinn variant covers this week – My Rating: 3/5

Lego Justice League VS Bizarro League – My Rating: 4/5

New Suicide Squad #7 – My Rating: 3/5

…and my pick of the week: THE NEW 52: FUTURES END!

So there you have it.  Finally on board (albeit just in time for the final act) with the stories and their convergence (see what I did there?) in Futures End.  But what was your favorite moment from this week’s Batman titles?  The big reveal at the end of Batman Eternal?  The DVD release of the new Lego DC movie?  This week’s episode of Gotham?  Or something else entirely?  See you all next week, folks.  I’m sure it won’t disappoint.
