Baturday: Third Week of August 2020 for Batman

Hello there, Batman fans!  And welcome back to Comic Booked’s longest-running column, Baturday!  Make sure you check out the last edition before you read all about the third week of August.  Here’s what came out this week:

  • Batman #97
  • Catwoman #24
  • Dark Nights: Death Metal: Guidebook #1 (One-Shot)
  • Harley Quinn #75
  • Justice League #51
  • Nightwing #73
  • Teen Titans #44

And my pick of the week is:

  • NIGHTWING!

So there you have it.  The Joker War continues to shock and amaze me with Tynion’s every issue (not to mention Jimenez’s beautiful and terrifying artwork).  The Death Metal Guidebook was a lot of fun, albeit mis-marketed and mislabeled tie-in fun, giving us another exciting anthology of evil Batman stories.  But I thought it was time to pay some special close attention to a book that has been on the receiving end of some unfair criticism as of late: Nightwing by the masterful Dan Jurgens, which delivers solid storytelling each and every month, despite the fact that DC seems hellbent on trying to ruin Dick Grayson’s life every time an event features him.  I think it’s pretty safe to say that it was yet another solid release week for the Bat family of books.  Let us know what you missed, what you’re looking forward to, and how you’re doing.  We’d love to hear from you on social media.  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to check out DC’s two-day Fan Dome event.  More news to come on that front as it develops.  See you next Baturday!
