Star Trek Convention Hits Chi-Town! Beam Me Up, Chicago!
Star Trek, the 49 Year Mission Tour beamed aboard the Starship Chicago on 12-14 June, 2015 at the Westin O’Hare. Star Trek members who arrived for this year’s mission were George Takei, Colm Meaney, Walter Koenig – mission leaders we know and love and are willing to follow into the vast, star filled universe for adventures and action packed landings!
Chicago’s ‘can do’ spirit and life supporting lake-front terrain must have brought the incredible camaraderie to the eventful occasion. Klingons were friendly, Enterprise crew was getting along, phasers were not being fired and not set on stun, kill or disintegrate. Khan was even friendly and working the crowd! Great con, with specific genre related items, cosplays and celebs. Entertaining speakers, costume contest was heated and items for sale were reasonably priced. Mission success!
Next Year – 50 Year Mission!
The 50 Year Mission Tour is set for 9-11 September 2016 and celebrating the original series debut on September 8th, 1966! Fantastic fun!!! William Shatner is scheduled to be sitting in his Captain’s chair, with his crew of Jonathan Frakes, Levar Burton, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn and many more to be announced. Great plan for next year, especially if you are a Star Trek fan, it’s gonna be awesome!
