Bokeem Woodbine joined the cast of Spiderman: Homecoming which began filming on June 20th 2016 in Atlanta Georgia. While details remain scarce at this point, Woodbine will be joining Logan Marshall-Green and Michael Keaton as villains in this Sony/Marvel Studios franchise reboot.
This would make three villains announced thus far to play as opposition to Tom Holland’s Spider-man. Michael Keaton is rumored to be playing Adrian Toomes, also known as the Vulture. There are a few possibilities for Logan Marshall-Green’s character. The Hollywood Reporter speculates that Logan Marshall-Green might portray The Tinkerer, whose first appearance happens to be the same issue as The Vulture’s first appearance: May 1963’s Amazing Spider-man # 2 which was entitled “Duel to the Death with The Vulture!” as the first part and the second being “The Uncanny Threat of the Terrible Tinkerer!”
The Chameleon, Mysterio and Kraven the Hunter are all likely possibilities upon which we can speculate however exactly who Bokeem Woodbine will portray remains to be seen.
Harlem born Bokeem Woodbine has been professionally acting since 1993’s film Strapped. He was 19 at the time. Since that time, he has starred in films and shows such as Jarhead 2, Riddick, Southland, Total Recall, Blade: The Series, Black Dynamite, The X-Files, The Sopranos and, most recently, starred alongside Billy Bob Thornton in the FX Network’s hit show Fargo.
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-man: Homecoming is set for wide release on July 7th, 2017 and, along with Woodbine, Keaton and Marshall-Green will also star Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Zendaya, Marissa Tomei and others. There are a couple of set photos released thus far, as seen below:
