At this past weekend’s C2E2, DC Comics announced some exciting news for Selina Kyle, the Catwoman. First, DC Collectibles announced that Catwoman would be the latest to join the DC Covers Girls line of statues. The 9″ statue will be in shops this November and will be based on a character design by Joelle Jones.

In addition Joelle Jones and DC announced a brand new monthly on-going series for Catwoman written by Joelle Jones herself. She will be joined by colorist Laura Allred and variant cover superstar, hot off the heels of his uber populer Supergirl run, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau for the ‘B’ covers.

DC did recommend reading  Batman #50 first which will be the issue in which Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle finally marry. The solicitation (below) starts with “The wedding night’s barely over,” so you can see why this is a good suggestion. Both Batman #50 and Catwoman #1 will be released on the same Wednesday in July.

To date, Catwoman has had 4 series to her name, starting with a four issue miniseries in 1989. Volume 1 ending with its 94th issue in 1998. Then another 83-issue run that concluded with #82 in 2008 and an 83rd issue a couple of years later. Volume 3, part of the New52, lasted for 52 issue and concluded in July of 2016. Now, 2 years later, Catwoman once again gets a new volume.

This is the “A” cover for the first issue, minus the trade dress:

The wedding night’s barely over, but Catwoman’s back on the streets, this time to expose a copycat who’s pulling heists around Gotham City. As Selina cracks the whip on her former criminal cohorts, she’s attracting unwanted attention from one of Gotham’s most dangerous groups. The mob? Nope. Try the GCPD. And as if the Bat-Bride didn’t have enough problems, there’s an all-new villain determined to make trouble for all nine of Selina’s lives. Don’t miss the start of an all-new monthly series written and illustrated by Eisner Award-nominee Joëlle Jones!
