Another one of my favorite Stores here in Las Vegas, NV. Jay, or MaximuM Jay as many know him is one of THE coolest guys you’ll ever meet. He brings his store to life with his excitement and acknowledgement for anything comic related. He is bringing gaming into the mix too. Can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for us next month. Jay moved to Vegas in 06 and wanted to put his love of comics and past business management career to good use. He worked briefly at Dark Tower Comics before buying the Tropicana/Ft Apache location from them. After giving it a top-to-bottom makeover, he re-opened as MaximuM Comics on January 1st, 2007.
It is their mission statement to provide the best service, in the cleanest shops, with the best selection. To that end, they want to make every visit to MaximuM Comics the best visit for everyone! The staff is both friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting.
Just look at the traffic flow here in this picture. You KNOW it’s an inviting store and people love it. And this isn’t morning traffic, it’s evening traffic friends:
This formula has worked for them and on August 7th, 2010 they opened their mega-store in Henderson. 3 times the size of store one, store 2.0 features some unique-to-Vegas items, artwork and comics! Their ever-expanding back issue and graphic novel selection has doubled since they opened and, due to their great discounts and low prices, doubled again. With gaming coming in February, they are looking to grow again.
And look at that folks, a Game Stop right next door. 2 of the best you could hope for in our world, right?! =)
They have big plans in place for 2011. Jay says it’s going to be a heck of a year!
ONE BIG PLAN is an event this store is holding to benefit The Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth. Jay and I and some very talented and well known friends of mine are hosting an event teamed up with the Justice League of Las Vegas and ComicBooked.com to bring you a signing like no other on February 19th. I’ll keep you posted about the event. We’re announcing it here soon. You’re gonna want to be there!!!
