With this being my first year at Comic Booked, I was very proud to participate and work with everybody on putting this year end list together. Essentially, these are the staff picks for best books, writers, and artists of 2013. The decision by only allowing five choices on to the year end list was so that it would force us to weigh our options more carefully and to truly think about what were the best things in 2013. We were all forced to leave a lot off of these lists so these truly are our favorites/the best. These lists are organized according to each staff member. Now that the year is (almost) over, let us be your arbiters of taste and your guide through swathing paths of garbage to get to the truly great stuff. Here’s to the best of 2013.

So there’s that, thanks for reading and sticking with us throughout the year. See you in 2014!
Everybody’s lists look really good here, apart from Superior Spider-Man.
Nice work compiling these! In the absence of our musings/rationalizations I’ll clarify my thoughts on the inclusion of Dennis O’Neil: “Sure his 2013 body of work was all reprinted material, but he remains my favorite writer.”
Very nice list! I really want to try some new series aside from the big 2, and this list definitely helps. Thank you!
I’ll also add that I broke format with “HONORABLE MENTIONS for Kellie Sue DeConnick (for her wildly entertaining work on a couple of Marvel books) and Andrew C. Robinson (for his lush, evocative “The Fifth Beatle”).
Good picks, everyone. Wow, Jeff Hill sure likes his DC! 😉
a few repeats, but looks like, for the most part, people liked a lot of books/writers/artists this year. that’s a good thing. it’s always reassuring that there’s something out there for everyone when the list is this diverse! (even though batman and his minions should be all over everyone ‘s list. haha.)
Lotsa love for the Superior Spider-Man!
