DC FanDome 2020 has some pretty cool announcements, and though it was a bit movie/TV/video game heavy (as these things always are nowadays), there is no need to fear that DC will be going away any time soon. Here’s my quick run-down of some of the biggest highlights from the 24-hour event.
We got to see a bunch of comic book legends talk about their craft, their favorite characters, and their upcoming stories, ranging from Neil Gaiman to Jim Lee to Denys Cowan to G. Willow Wilson and many, many more. Though this was cool, it would have been better to get more than a hint of “cool things on the way” and a return of Milestone Media in February 2021. After all DC is a comic company, and though the adaptations are awesome (and absolutely a driving market force), it would be great to devote a few more hours to the actual page.
That being said, there was a ton of news regarding our favorite comic characters headed to various small and big screens. We witnessed behind-the-scenes interviews and Q&A sessions with actors, producers, writers, and directors such as Zack Snyder, Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Patty Jenkins, Robin Wright, Chris Pine, Lynda Carter, James Gunn, Idris Elba, Viola Davis, Margot Robbie, Grant Gustin, Brenton Thwaites, Jai Courtney, Michael Sheen, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, Asher Angel, Cress Williams, Zachary Levi, Sean Gunn, Anna Diop, Pete Davidson, Greg Berlanti, James Wan, Patrick Wilson, Robert Pattinson, Aisha Tyler, Dwayne Johnson, and dozens of other Hollywood A-listers.
We were given several sneak peeks of upcoming adaptations, including:
- Wonder Woman 1984 (film)
- Gotham Knights (video game)
- The Flash (film)
- The Suicide Squad (film)
- The Director’s Cut of Justice League (4-part HBO Max miniseries)
- The Flash (CW show)
- Shazam: Fury of the Gods (film)
- Black Adam (film)
- The Batman (film)
It was kind of like SDCC, but just for DC… and I’m certainly not complaining! Check out all of the trailers on our Comic Booked Facebook page. Check out all of my hot takes on my Twitter feed. And then come back here and tell us what you thought, what you missed, and what you’re most (or least) excited about from the very first DC FanDome experience!
