Fall Television Preview: Forever

I cannot emphasize this enough. I got to see a sneak preview of this pilot of this series, coming Mondays on ABC, and I will tell you that this could really be one of the great new shows this Fall. I recommend everyone watch this.

If you like shows like CSI, NCIS, Castle, or any of the myriad of cop dramas, but you also enjoy stuff like Supernatural, The Following, or Dexter, this could really be the show for you. Starring Ioan Gruffud, who you may have seen as Reed Richards in the previous Fantastic Four movies, as Dr. Henry Morgan, a medical examiner who ends up working closely with the police after being questioned in a train accident with no survivors. The problem is that he did not survive that crash either.

Dr. Morgan has an interesting problem. Ever since he was shot and thrown overboard on a slave ship coming to America from Africa over 200 years ago, whenever he dies, he comes back to life, almost like being reborn, in the nearest body of water, naked. This makes for some interesting situations and usually involves ending up in jail or at least at one precinct or another.

The pilot is available on Hulu for early viewing, and as I watched it, I really enjoyed the similarities to other shows, like Castle, that I really love to watch. But, then, about halfway through, some threads began to become visible. These threads led of in different directions that I was not really expecting, and, by the end of the pilot, I was hooked and wanted to know more.

Definitely tune in for two nights of this show on ABC, Monday and Tuesday, and you will have to continue watching it. The writing is great, the cast is real and relatable, and the addition of both Judd Hirsch and Alana de la Garza, truly makes this a show that I hope to keep watching for a few seasons. Check out the trailer.
