Memphis Comic Expo – Surprises!
Incredible cosplays in Tennessee – Memphis Comic Expo at the Agricenter was no exception! Cosplay guest super stars – BelleChere, Nicole Marie Jean, Colin Bass were in superb form and their Squirrel Girl and Mad Max cosplays were amazing! Some MCE attendees supported the trending #wewantwidow effort that went worldwide 6 June 2015, with Iron America from #IBOTKS, Iron Brothers of Topeka stepping up too – he was seen sporting signs supporting his bestie Black Widow! (Thanks @riellygeek.com for the great idea to bring attention to the lack of female heroes and characters in media today.)
MCE Facebook said it…’is the truest comic convention in the mid-south! Creators come first at this convention!’…. Very true – So surprised MCE had so many great artists, writers, celebrities and cosplay guests – but most important was the con-goers – they were the absolute best and what brilliant detailed work went into their costumes! BelleChere wore her fantastic rendition of Squirrel Girl cosplay – (Squirrel Girl writer/creator Erica Henderson was a guest at the convention).
Matt D. Wilson was selling his Supervillain Field Manual – giving everyone shenanigan advice (or ‘how to’ ruin shenanigan advice), artist Rick Johnson of Phat Daddy Studios was getting details from Dare Devil, Jerry Lawler gave wrestling tips while talking trade by his Batmobile he brought for everyone to enjoy and The 501st Legion kept things under control by patrol! There were incredible steampunk cosplays and a converted firetruck that sold pizza! Bucket list epic event – loved it!
Cosplay plan for next year – GOOOOOOOOO! The con had a great feel, low admission, spacious area, good food prices, affordable hotels nearby, lots of cosplay competition in the costume contest and such friendly people! It is a bit of a drive if you don’t live in Tennessee, but it’s worth it if you combine Graceland and nights roaming Beale Street into it. (sorry it took so long guys, SD card issues – arghhh!) But… here they are – enjoy!
