NWI Comi-con year 2 was off the charts!!! Over 3,000 attendees came to Schererville, Indiana this weekend to find out if the con’s promise to provide a fun, reasonably priced family friendly event was true!!! No surprises here – there was absolutely something for everyone in this ‘feel good’ environment. Fab artists (both mainstream and independent) and great writers surrounded with some amazing booths set up by vendors and cosplay groups!
Cosplay was welcome and it almost looked like half of attendees were in costume! Well done, Brian and Kelly Grabinski, well done! Fantastic costume contest judges were Mid-West well knowns – among them, James T. Wulfgar, co-founder of CosAwesome Studios. Costume contest MC duties were performed by Barf from Spaceballs – who also instigated the cosplay conga line (probably will be an annual con conga line).
Unbelievable competition at the costume contest! WOW! So many cosplay awards but fierce and dedicated cosplay proved difficult to narrow down to a small group of winners – they were all amazing displays of costuming fabulousness! The winners were the best of the best of the best! Next year NWI Comi-con is ‘on the list’ so bring your A game, the contest is gonna get cosplay hot and heavy!
Some serious artists/writers were in Artist Alley, with impressive art work displayed by Mike Norton Tim Seeley, Corey Hamscher and Jim Terry. They also did an excellent panel that was entertaining and insightful. Great to see such key comic players in the local area!
