SCATTERSHOT NEWS for the week of August 5th, 2021

scattershot

Welcome back to Scattershot News; a weekly tirade from the CEO that is little more than a vomit of news and views that you probably already know and more than likely won’t agree with anyway. Lots of stuff going on in the world of comics, comic movies, pop culture, and other stuff. Conventions are coming back, comic book companies are going out, movies are showing, and TV shows and people are getting cancelled, but the one thing you can always rely on is finding the truth on the internet. Right?

There are rumors, supported by some stuff from our friends over at Variety, that say that Joe Henderson, who is notorious for running the awesome show Lucifer (based on the Vertigo/DC series of the same name) will be heading up a live- action Pokemon seriesy. Word is that this could be along the same lines as the Detective Pikachu movie, which was a lot of fun. More solid news soon.

Speak of the devil, Lucifer returns for Season 6 on Netlix on Seotember 10, 2021. This has been an all around fun show so far with a varying cast of characters and some really interesting plot lines, from God’s wife showing up to the reemergence of Cain, played by Tom Welling from Smallville fame to God making an appearance in the form of Dennis Haysbert, so we knew we were in good hands. I am excited to see how Lucifer fares in the coming season.

Good news for Scott Snyder fans as he has solidified a deal with Amazon for an eight book deal to be Comixology exclusives starting with a book called We Have Demons, looking like a new monster book, as a colab with Greg Capullo. These books will be digital first, then released under Dark Horse in print.

Usagi Yojimbo is coming to Netflix and Comic Con @Home released the first look. You can take a look at the video here, with a full interview about the series and a sneak peek.

More Comic Con @Home news as the Eisner Award winners were also announced:

Finally, you can go check out all 12 of the covers for Marvel’s upcoming Kang the Conqueror #1 due out on August 18th. Thanks to our friends over at AIPT have a great article that you can kick over and check out here.

Otherwise, there are a lot of new things on the horizon. In fact, this weekend, you can begin streaming The Suicide Squad on HBO Max, check out Free Guy in the theaters, and maybe attend a local comic convention or comic book shop. Get back out there and live life, love comics, and be nice to people. We have to. Most of them are really stupid.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my latest content. I hope you found something useful. Stay tuned later this week for some talk about Magic the Gathering, Youtube, and the latest TikTok dance craze… or not.
