Strange Pro Wrestler of the Week – Bastion Booger

Bastion Booger

Bastion Booger

In April of 1993 on RAW the WWE debut a character named Friar Furguson. He was an monk character that looked a lot like Friar Tuck. A fat man of the cloth with a horse shoe bald head. That would have easily made a great case for Strange Wrestler of the Week. However, it wasn’t meant to be. The Catholic Church complained about the character and Friar Furguson was scrapped after one match.

After their attempt with the Friar the WWE changed his gimmick to Bastion Booger. From Parts Unknown standing at 6’1” and weighing in at 401lbs Booger’s gimmick was literally being a fat disgusting guy. Hi soiled singlet always a dingy grey color reminded me of duct tape. The WWE encyclopedia touts him as having “a unique gift of making those around him physically ill.”

Booger’s record was just as disgusting as his antics. He was mostly used as a jobber. He did score a few wins over Owen Hart, also lost to him roughly 1 million times. At the twilight of his WWE career he worked a program where he first aligned with Bam Bam Bigelow and then split from him because he fill in love with Luna Vachon. Bigelow defeated Booger and Booger was soon out of the WWE. He did make one final appearance at the 15th anniversary of RAW.

Sadly Mike Shaw, the man behind Bastion Booger passed away in 2010 at the age of 53 from a heart attack. His legacy of grotesque antics will live on forever as the WWE occasionally shows clips of the “highlights” of grossness.
