Super Sunday: Second Week of July 2020

SuperSunday

Hello there, Superman fans! And welcome back to Comic Booked’s second longest-running column, Super Sunday! We took a week off for the holiday (and because there weren’t any new releases as DC switched to their new distributors), but we’re back! Make sure you check out the last edition before you read all about the second week of July. Here’s what came out this week:

  • DCeased: Dead Planet #1 (of 7)
  • Flash Forward TPB
  • Justice League #48
  • Justice League Odyssey #22
  • Lois Lane #12 (of 12)
  • Superman #23
  • Young Justice #16

And my pick of the week is:

  • LOIS LANE!

So there you have it. Brian Michael Bendis continues his “super” legacy in the pages of both Superman and Young Justice this week for two very different, but very strong releases. The Flash Forward trade paperback collection includes the entire legendary miniseries, the Wally West backup story from The Flash #750, and the cancelled Free Comic Book Day Generation Zero: Gods Among Us one-shot that bridges the gap between Heroes in Crisis and Dark Nights: Death Metal, posing Flash/Metron/Dr. Manhattan against the Batman Who Laughs and the rest of the Dark Multiverse. We get a return to the alternate reality that we love with DCeased. And Greg Rucka concludes his most recent foray into writing what is easily the best Superman book on the stands, Lois Lane. I think it’s pretty safe to say that it was yet another solid release week for the Bat family of books. Let us know what you missed, what you’re looking forward to, and how you’re doing. We’d love to hear from you on social media. See you next Super Sunday!
