Superman #1 and Action Comics #1001 by Brian Michael Bendis

superman1

The last time we spoke about the upcoming shakeup in the Superman family of titles was back around the end of January.  In it we talked about just what that milestone issue one thousand would contain.

For Action Comics #1, FOC passed on March 19th and DC reported pre-sales figures in the half a million range.  That is very impressive but it is time to turn our attention to what comes afterwards and so we look to Superman #1 and to Action Comics #1.

These issues will be directly dealing with the fallout from the Man of Steel Miniseries, the six part mini-series, written by Bendis (and art from a host of superstar artists like Adam Hughes, Ivan Reis, Ryan Sook and more) that will precede the launch of Superman #1 and  Action Comics #1001 (Action #100 comes out this month, then there will be a two month hiatus before the next issue). The miniseries itself kicks off at the end of May (with a prelude contained within the DC Nation #0 twenty-five center that comes out at the beginning of May).

Once the miniseries wraps up we will get the relaunched Superman title, hailed as the biggest relaunch since John Byrne took over the first Man of Steel miniseries back in 1986.

In the solicitation, which you can read below, Superman will be dealing with the planet and the Phantom Zone while Action Comics # 1001 will deal with Superman in Metropolis and the Daily Planet itself.
