The Best Movies of 2018

Posted on Mar 1, 2019 by in Features | 0 comments

So the Oscars happened last weekend. And that’s always a thing, albeit one that I don’t really care about because the last Best Picture I agreed with was almost 20 years ago. (American Beauty still holds up, even though Kevin Spacey is, well, Kevin Spacey. Fight me.) So here at Comic Booked I take this opportunity to ignore the fact that we live in a world that “Academy Award winner Lady Gaga” is a thing and list out the movies I enjoyed. I saw quite a few good movies this year. Here are a few of the ones I think you would also enjoy, listed alphabetically with an asterisk to denote a wide theatrical release and some parenthetical genres under which they fall, followed by a list of some of my own “awards” for 2018. So there you have it. My picks for 2018. I always try my best to give credit where credit is due and I’ve always been a firm believer that the best litmus test in terms of taste is if the answer to the question “Did you enjoy it?” is “Yes.” So here are the 75 movies of 2018 that I enjoyed. I saw about 25 more that I did not enjoy. And some of those won Oscars last night. But enough about that… What did you think? Were there some movies on my list that surprised you? Any awards that sort of made you want to watch (or rewatch) anything? And were there any glaring omissions? Let me know on social media or in the comments. And if you haven’t already done so, go watch some great movies from 2018!
