Valiant Entertainment has always had some really rich characters, but Bloodshot has always been one of my person favorites. With the team up of Sony and Valiant, this first offering looks to be a fun ride.

Let’s just jump right into the trailer.

If you are not familiar with the character of Bloodshot, don’t be too worried. You did not miss a secret cameo in some other movie. Valiant has been around since the 1990s, in one form or another, and has produced a variety of characters with varying powers and backstories. From Harbinger, a series about a group of kids that have powers and are hounded by a psychic megalomaniac, to Ninjak, a ninja super spy, Valiant has always provided something for every taste. Sci-fi to magic to supers.

Bloodshot is a little different as we look at a cross between Universal Soldier and Memento meets John Wick. Bloodshot is a former soldier, former because he died in action, name Ray Garrison, who is the premier subject of Project Rising Star, or in this new movie, a corporation called RST (Rising Spirit Technology?). The trailer seems to get the basics of the character down to a tee.

A super-soldier who has an army of nano-robots in his bloodstream, Bloodshot’s body literally rebuilds itself as he fights, even providing him with increased speed and strength. I am really excited to see some of the fight scenes.

Guy Pearce, always a great bad guy, gets to play a scientist with a god-complex, as he did in the recent series on Netflix The Innocents. Programming and reprogramming Ray with new memories as they use him as an unstoppable assassin, I am reminded of the twist in the movie Memento, staring Guy Pearce. Check that movie out, if you have never seen it.

Overall, I am very excited to see Bloodshot as it is set to release in February. I have heard a lot of good things about it from people close to the film, especially that Vin Diesel plays Bloodshot very well and the film stays true to the spirit of the character and the comics.

So, until February 2020, check out the great comics from Valiant and get your tickets as soon as they go on sale.
