Wizard World Philadelphia Happens This Weekend

Wizard World

Convention season is always a fun and hectic time. If you are a cosplayer, you are working on your costumes, verifying that you have all the parts, and that any weapons meet the more and more restrictive standards for what is and is not allowed. If you are a collector, you have longboxes to go through to see what issues you need to fill in the gaps and what things you want signed by the attending creators. If you are a TV/movie fan, you are looking at the list of guests and trying to find that one of a kind action figure or decorative plate that the stars can sign for you.

For me, the Editor-in-Chief of Comic Booked, I spend a lot of time organizing who lives where and what cons are close by each of our writers. I have to contact the convention PR teams to let them know who will be attending so that press access can be made available. And, I want to go to one, too.

This year, I get the opportunity to go to Wizard World Philly, one of the many stops along the way for the Wizard World convention series. Things kicked off yesterday with several panels and special guest stars. The list is long and varied, but some of the names you may recognize are Norman Reedus and Lauren Cohan from The Walking Dead, Lou Ferrigno the original “Incredible Hulk”, and Nathan Fillion of Castle and Firefly fame. Another huge set of guests on Saturday is Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy). Other stars to make appearances are Michael Rooker, Sean Astin, and Sebastian Stan. All in all, a cool line up of folks that I would love to meet.

If you are interested in attending, there is still time to get tickets. You can click here or go to the Wizard World Philly website and purchase them. Be sure to bring extra cash for all the autographs and photos with the stars. The range from $20 to almost $150 depending on who it is. Whoopi Goldberg will be there along with David Boreanaz, Christopher Lloyd, Anthony Mackie, and even Eliza Dushku, John Carpenter, and Alan Tudyk. the list is literally huge.

Wizard WorldFor those of you attending the convention, be sure to check out the cool scavenger hunt sponsored by the great folks at ABC 6 in Philly. Free stuff is always good. Tons of fun, cool stuff to look at and buy, and great stars to meet. Come on over to Philadelphia this weekend for Wizard World Philly.
