Trailer Park Tuesday: E3 Movie Special

trailer

This week is the Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3, and I thought it would be good to spotlight three upcoming video game movies, good, bad, or ugly.

Truth be told, so many of the video games in the spotlight at E3 this week are more like movies than some of the movies. The cinematics for Halo: Infinite and Cyberpunk 2077 might as well come with overpriced popcorn and Raisinets. Movie and TV star cameos are not new in video games, but they are quite a bit cooler as technology has advanced.

Just imagine if as much effort was put into other areas of life, like cleaning up urban areas, fighting crime, educating children, curing disease, or reducing costs and improving the standard of living for everyone. I mean, don’t get me wrong, video games are awesome, but is it just a distraction?

I am reminded of an episode of Sliders, the fun sci-fi series from the 90s starring Jerry O’Connell. The episode title was Virtual Slide and was from Season 4. It focused on using VR technology to basically enslave a population. Once the A.I. runs everything, we can all just sit in our little VR pods and enjoy life as our bodies waste away to nothing…

MOVIES!

First up, a sequel that you may not even realize is coming.

So, yeah, the birds. They are still angry.

Ok, on to the next one. This one has riled up quite a few fan boys and girls. This film suffers from the constant whine of fan-people, “I want my favorite thing to be exactly the way it has always been and never change and no one can tell me otherwise and I will never try anything new, so there.

So, animated hedgehog. No different that live action Pikachu, so why the hubbub? Just enjoy it.

Finally, just a classic that I am really excited about. I know I spent dollar after dollar just to watch Dirk die. Still, amazing.

Well, sorry, there is no trailer. It looks like the Dragon’s Lair movie is out there on some schedules for release as an animated feature May 2020 directed by Don Bluth and Gary Oldman, but… given the sordid history of the movie and production, I would not hold my breath. Maybe we will see a series on Netflix.

Since you have hung around this long, reading my wonderfully crafted article, here is a list of a few more movies that have been rumoured to be in development, some with some major players in talks for parts or directing roles.

  • Minecraft
  • Last of Us
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s
  • Call of Duty
  • Fruit Ninja
  • Mortal Kombat
  • Asteroids
  • Splinter Cell

So, just a little bit of the stuff coming down the pike in this special video game edition of Trailer Park Tuesday. Enjoy and watch more movies.
