Baturday: Batman for 1/4/20

Baturday

Happy new year! Happy Baturday! And happy new format for Comic Booked’s longest-running column! Each major Batman-related release will still be listed at the end of each and every week, but instead of ratings… the comics, shows, graphic novels, movies, events, etc. you CANNOT MISS will be listed in bold. Here are this week’s releases:

  • Batgirl #42
  • Batman Beyond #39
  • Detective Comics #1,108
  • Harley Quinn #69
  • Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity #2
  • Justice League Dark #18
  • Lois Lane #7
  • Red Hood: Outlaw #41
  • DC Universe’s Harley Quinn

And My Pick of the Week: JOKER/HARLEY: CRIMINAL SANITY!!!

This week’s releases sure had some highlights. Dan Jurgens is a usually-unsung hero every month with Batman Beyond, which is consistently action-packed and enjoyable. DC Universe’s adult-comedy is spot-on with the animated Harley Quinn series. Red Hood: Outlaw continues to be Scott Lobdell at his very best. Peter J. Tomasi proves he really is the best current Batman writer with Detective Comics. Greg Rucka throws in enough Renee Montoya to make Lois Lane double as an additional Bat book, and a great one, at that. James Tynion IV makes Justice League Dark equal parts magic and scary. And Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity is Black Label at its finest. But what are your thoughts on this week’s Batman-related releases? Hit me up on Twitter at jeffhillwriter and let’s get the debate going. See you next Baturday!
