Sheri’s Best and Worst of 2018

Sheri's Best and Worst of 2018

SHERI’S BEST AND WORST OF 2018

Another year has come to a close.  A year packed full of much anticipated movies and all things pop culture.  So, what better way to end it than to give you: Sheri’s Best and Worst of 2018.

Worst Real Life Moment: The Death of Stan Lee

Sheri's Best and Worst 2018

There’s no way to review 2018 without first mentioning the moment we had all been dreading that finally came to fruition.  We all lost one of our idols this year and still hold Stan dearly in our hearts.

Best Superhero Movie: Deadpool 2

I’m sure many would disagree with me onSheri's Best and Worst 2018 this, but Deadpool 2 was my favorite superhero movie of 2018.  Ryan Reynold’s never disappoints as our mouthy merc and I will never get tired of these movies where Marvel so willingly makes fun of themselves.

Worst Superhero Movie: Black Panther

Yes, I said it.  Black Panther was my least favoritSheri's Best and Worst 2018e superhero movie of 2018.  It wasn’t BAD and I DO understand the reasoning behind those who rave about it…but to me, the whole movie was just…meh.  It tied together more of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but other than that it just didn’t do anything for me.

Best Family Movie: Teen Titans GO! To the Movies

I can’t give you this list without mentioning the epic-ness that was Teen Titans GO! To the Movies.  Beyond the absolutSheri's Best and Worst 2018e hilarity of the movie, the fact that Stan Lee made a cameo in a DC cartoon puts this movie up there as one of my favorites of 2018.  Added to that, I’m curious how many parents were left with trying to explain how babies are made to their children afterwards.

Worst Family Movie: Mary Poppins Returns

My daughter was dying to go see this movie and, I have to admit, I was a little bit excited about it myself.  I grew up with Mary Poppins being one of my all-time favorite movieSheri's Best and Worst 2018s and I thought there was no way they could mess this up.  I was wrong. The musical numbers were completely forgettable, the characters were annoying, and the movie…obviously couldn’t even hold the attention of a 12 year old, as my daughter slept through 40 minutes of it…and that kid is not a napper.  I feel justified in saying, I’d like those couple hours of my life back.

Best TV: Elseworlds

While I may not be a fan of the DC Cinematic UnSheri's Best and Worst 2018iverse, I LOVE DC TV shows.  If DC could translate their talent for television to the movies, I would probably even say I prefer DC to Marvel overall.  The Elseworlds event perfectly linked together many of our favorite DC characters and was probably the most enjoyable 3 hours I spent in front of a screen this year.

Worst TV: Luke Cage

Netflix’s Marvel shows rarely disappoint, in my humble opSheri's Best and Worst 2018inion, and 2018 had some great ones.  Jessica Jones, Daredevil…even the second season of Iron Fist which was a VAST improvement over their first season.  However, Luke Cage was so bad, I honestly couldn’t even make it through the entire season.  As a champion binge-watcher, that is seriously saying something.

Best Moment In The Movie Theater: Ant-Man

One of the best things about any Marvel movie is their post credit scenes.  If you’re reading this, you knSheri's Best and Worst 2018ow the rule.  You never get up when they start playing the credits because the best is yet to come.  Like me, I am sure you have sat in many a movie theater and silently mocked the people who DON’T know this and start getting up as soon as the credits begin to roll.  I would assume I am not alone in laughing even harder at the people who did this at the end of Ant-Man…and who left the theater assuming that all ended well in the world of Ant-Man and his comrades.  I hope BY NOW they’ve figured out that they missed the connection to Infinity War.

Worst Moment In The Movie Theater: Avengers: Infinity War

Let me clarify this one by saying: When I say “worSheri's Best and Worst 2018st” on this it’s because it was the one that legitimately had me almost in tears. I don’t know many people who walked out of this movie without a dazed and shocked look on their face and I quite sure that each of us were affected harder by various deaths.  Mine was when Groot gave his arm for Thor’s ax…because for a split second I truly thought he was about to give his life to be the handle.  What can I say?  I’m a girl and Groot is my favorite.

Best “WAIT, WHAT?!” Moment: Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald

I am STILL reeling from this, but really did aSheri's Best and Worst 2018ny of you see it coming that there was a third Dumbledore brother?  I know I didn’t and I’m probably more excited to see where that story goes than any other cliffhanger I’ve seen this year.

So, what were your best and worst moments?  Let me know in the comments?  And check out this list of what’s coming up in 2019 to look forward to.  I can’t wait to check it out with you!

Happy New Year!!
